’37 points from Iqbairi’ Libya lose to Algeria in full-set thriller to miss out on final spot

He’s warming up well ahead of kickoff. Iqbairi (Libya), who played for Samsung Fire in the V-League last season and will be wearing a Hyundai Capital jersey in the upcoming 2023-24 season, has been a starter for his country’s national team.

She has yet to join the Hyundai Capital roster. He is currently participating in the African Men’s Volleyball Championship organized by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVA) with the Libyan National Team. The tournament is being held in Cairo, Egypt.

Led by Iqbairi, Libya has been a surprise favorite. They passed the group stage and reached the semifinals of the tournament.

Iqbairi has been Libya’s ‘main gun’. However, Libya’s surge came to a halt in the quarterfinals.

The Libyans fell 2-3 (25-18 15-25 35-33 22-25 11-15) to Algeria in the semifinals at Cairo Stadium Hall 2 in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday (Nov. 12) in a match that went to a full set.

Despite Libya’s loss, Iqbairi led the way with 37 points, the most of both teams combined. She also had two service aces.

Algeria was led by the left-side duo of Hosni and Iken. Hosni finished with a team-high 27 points, while Iken was well supported with 24 points. Fellow outside hitter Sowalem added 15 points to the win.

Despite not punching their ticket to the final, Libya will play Cameroon on Wednesday for the third and fourth place match, looking for their best ever finish at the tournament.

In the other semifinal, hosts Egypt defeated Cameroon 3-1 (25-13 25-23 20-25 29-27) and will face Algeria in the final.스포츠토토
