Riding a three-game winning streak, the Lotte Giants reignited their fall baseball hopes by sweeping the Hanwha Eagles. The KIA Tigers closed the gap on the fifth-place SSG Landers to 0.5 games.
Lotte extended its winning streak to three games with a 9-1 sweep of the Hanwha Eagles in the 2023 KBO regular season at Sajik Stadium on Monday. With their 62nd win of the season, Lotte narrowed the gap to 3.5 games over fifth-place SSG Landers, who did not play on the day, and reignited their last hopes for fall baseball.
LOTTE starter Han Hyun-hee pitched six innings of four-hit, one-run ball, striking out one, and earned the win. She improved to 6-0 on the season. The bats came alive as well. Jun-woo Jeon went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Kwon-soo Ahn chipped in with three hits and two RBIs.
Hanwha lost its second straight game after starter Han Seung-ju was knocked out early with three runs in the first inning and the bullpen also gave up a bunch of runs, dropping one spot to ninth place behind Samsung with a 53-63 record.
The KIA Tigers also kept their top-five hopes alive. The Tigers pounded out 20 hits in a 13-5 victory over the Kiwoom Heroes of the 2023 KBO Baseball League at the Gocheok Sky Dome on April 29.
With 64 wins, 2 draws, and 63 losses, KIA moved to within 0.5 games of fifth-place SSG (65 wins, 3 draws, and 63 losses), further heating up the race for the top five. Meanwhile, Kiwoom, who had been on a roll with four straight wins, dropped to 55 wins, three draws and 79 losses to stay within two games of ninth-place Hanwha.
The Kia bats were led by Byun Woo-hyuk and Ko Jong-wook, who combined their home run barrage with Socrates Brito’s four-hit, three-RBI blast to secure the cool victory.스포츠토토
With the late-game victory at Jamsil Stadium, the Doosan Bears prevented the LG Twins from reducing their regular-season magic number and solidified their hold on fourth place.
At the same time, Doosan snapped a two-game losing streak and moved to 68 wins, two draws and 60 losses to trail the NC Dinos (70 wins, two draws and 57 losses), who did not play on the day, by two games. LG, on the other hand, suffered its second straight loss, bringing its season record to 80 wins, 2 draws, and 50 losses, and its regular season championship magic number remained unchanged at 6.
After scoring two runs in the first inning, Doosan quickly took the lead with a two-run homer by Rojas in the bottom of the first and a solo shot in the third. Doosan starter Choi Won-jun pitched 6.2 innings of two-run ball. With the bases loaded and one out in the eighth inning, reliever Chung Chul-won gave up the tying run, but Cho Su-hyun’s game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth sealed the deal.
