Chungnam Asan Unified Football Team wins the K League Unified Cup.
Chungnam Asan Professional Football Club (owner Park Kyung-gui, hereinafter referred to as Chungnam Asan) won the title at the Special Olympics Korea 2023 K League Unified Football Unified Cup (hereinafter referred to as the Unified Cup) held on July 7. On the day, Chungnam Asan was placed in Group C and faced Daejeon and the Korea Professional Football Association, winning all three games to finish first in the group.
The Unified Cup is a sports tournament that aims to help people with developmental disabilities (Special Olympics athletes) and people without disabilities (partner athletes) understand each other through sports and realize the value of social inclusion and equality for people with developmental disabilities by playing together.
The Chungnam Asan Unified Soccer Team, which participated in the tournament, consisted of 10 special athletes and 10 partner athletes, including head coach Choi Jung-sung, coaches Lee Cham-sol, Kim Ji-hyo, and Lee Stable-gyun, from the Asan Mayor’s Sports Association for the Disabled. The team was formed in May and spent about five months training together to prepare for the competition. The team’s hard work paid off when they won the Unified Cup, which they competed in for the first time in their first year of existence.
Coach Choi Jung-sung said, “We are proud to have achieved good results in our first tournament. I’m proud of the players and coaching staff who worked hard as a team from training to the game, and I’m grateful to the club for their support and encouragement.”메이저사이트
