“Kwangin Jeon needs more time in the pay window,” says director Tae-woong Choi

Hyundai Capital Skywalkers head coach Choi Tae-woong was disappointed that his team was unable to win a single set in their opening match despite battling hard in every set.

The Skywalkers lost the opening match of the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Men’s Division against the Korean Air Jumbos by a set score of 0 to 3 (25-27 22-25 23-25) at Gyeyang Gymnasium in Incheon on Thursday. Despite the 0-3 scoreline, each set was intense.

“I think we need more time,” Choi told reporters after the game. How did Choi analyze the reasons why Hyundai Capital was unable to win a single set despite being outplayed?

Choi pointed to errors at key moments. “If the game is close because both teams have similar skills, we should have fewer errors, but we made more errors than our opponent,” he said. “That’s where the gap in the score widened. I think the lack of training showed in the game.”

“The key domestic player is Jeon Kwang-in, but he’s still not in good shape,” Choi said, adding that he regretted that the offense was only directed at Ahmed. Jeon Kwang-in only scored one goal on the day.

Before the game, Choi said of Jeon, “His jump is not perfect due to his injury. I want him to be the center of the defense instead.”

Middle blocker Tsai Fei-chang (Chinese Taipei), who joined the team this season as the Asian quarterback, also looked like she needed an adjustment period. Pei-Chang totaled seven points, including two blocking points, but her overall game, including her serve, was somewhat lackluster.스포츠토토

Choi was aware of this. “There are still communication issues with other players. He still needs more time,” Choi said of Pei Chang.

However, “I think the players in the Asian Quarter are competitive,” he said, adding that “the overall performance of the players in the Asian Quarter has improved a lot.”

Choi was full of praise for Ahmed Iqbairi, who scored the most points for both teams in the match with 30. “Ahmed did a great job,” Choi said, “He’s the mood maker of the team and leads the players well. I think he is a good player.”

After the loss, Hyundai Capital will try to get their first win of the season in the second game of the season against Woori Card on April 18 at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul.
