“I want to go back to Incheon.”
With the SSG Landers on the brink of elimination in fall baseball, Han Yoo-seom expressed his desire to turn the series around and play Game 5 of the semi-playoffs (PO) in Incheon.
SSG will host the NC Dinos in Game 3 of the semifinals at Changwon NC Park on the 25th. If they drop Games 1 and 2 at home and lose Games 3 and 4, they will be done with fall baseball. The same is true if they win Game 3 and lose Game 4. They need to win both games on their home turf to play Game 5 at home. When Han Yoo-seom said, “I want to go back to Incheon,” he meant that he is determined to turn the series around.
The second game of the semi-final round of the ‘2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Postseason’ between the NC Dinos and SSG Landers was held on the afternoon of the 23rd at SSG Landers Field in Incheon. SSG’s Han Yoo-seom rounds the bases after hitting a mid-month one-run home run against NC’s Lee Jae-hak in the sixth inning. The home run followed a two-run shot in the fourth inning. The hope of SSG’s batting lineup is Han Yu-seom. He had three hits, including two home runs, and three RBIs in Games 1 and 2.
In fact, until this summer, he was extremely sluggish. After batting just 0.183 in the first month of the season, Han struggled to a 0.184 batting average through August. He was bounced back and forth between the first and second teams. The pressure was too much for him, and he returned the captain’s armband.
In September, he showed a completely different side of himself. From September 1 to the end of the regular season, he posted a league-high .425 batting average (32 games). In those 32 games, he had three home runs and 27 RBIs. That’s similar to the home runs (4) and RBIs (28) he had in 77 games from April through August. The contrast between his performance before and after September is stark.
“My performance was pretty much down this season,” Han said. It’s been a long time since I’ve looked at the scoreboard, not the baseball itself. It’s been a long time since I’ve looked at a scoreboard rather than played baseball. Since the end of August, I’ve been thinking, ‘Maybe this isn’t the year. I wasn’t really happy to go to the ballpark, and I was stressed out,” he recalled. “But it’s my job, so I tried to take pride in it, and I thought, ‘If I keep preparing, maybe one day I’ll have a chance to rebound a little bit,'” he said. “In September, I came back a little bit, and I became a part of the team. I thought, ‘There’s no law that says you have to die,'” he recalled.
His hot play in the fall continued in the postseason. After warming up his bat with a 1-for-4 performance in Game 1 on Nov. 22, he followed it up with a multi-homer game in Game 2.메이저사이트
He’s batting just .195 in the postseason through two games, but more than half of his 15 hits – eight – are home runs. Han’s performance was the lone bright spot in Game 2, and the team will be counting on her bat in Game 3.
SSG manager Kim Won-hyung sent Han Yoo-seom to bat fourth in Game 3. Instead, Guillermo Heredia batted second. Han Yoo-seom, who returned to his original batting order in fall baseball, said, “I’m batting fourth after a long time. I’m going to focus on helping the team win because the coach has a lot of faith in me,” Han said. “It’s true that we’re backed into a corner, but I hope today’s game goes the way all the players think it will, and I hope it (a three-game reverse sweep after two straight losses) comes to fruition.”
