Han Hee-won (30, 195 cm) made her presence felt in the offense and helped her team to victory.
After making a name for herself as a scorer during her time at Kyung Hee University, Han began to excel in defense after turning pro. After moving to Busan KT (now Suwon KT) for the 2018-2019 season, she became a full-time defender. He utilized his height and quick feet to exclusively mark opposing aces. On offense, he developed into a 3-and-D resource with his outside shooting.
A first-round matchup between Suwon KT and Goyang Sono in the 2023-2024 Korean Basketball Association at the KT Sonic Boom Arena in Suwon on June 6. Han Hee-won made his presence felt on both ends of the floor. He finished with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one blocked shot in 28 minutes and 51 seconds, helping KT to a 101-65 victory.
Han’s mission on this day was clear. He didn’t even look at the ball on the court, just followed Jeon Seong-hyun, Sono’s ace and the KBL’s best shooter. He didn’t let him touch the ball at all, and when he did, he made sure he shot from the most difficult position possible.
Clogged by Han Hee-won’s defense, Jeon only managed to score 10 points in 35 minutes and 11 seconds of play. Only one of his eight three-pointers hit the rim. None of the things we all know about Jeon’s strengths came through. With Jeon stifled, Sono’s offense as a whole was frustrating. Lee Jung-hyun struggled, but it wasn’t enough.
Han Hee-won was also a force on offense. She hit three three-pointers in the first quarter alone to help KT set the tone early. It was even better that she was able to score in addition to defending, which is what a 3&D player should do.
After the game, head coach Song Young-jin said, “We played a lot of inside defense. (Han) Hee-won did a good job of fulfilling that. She played with Jeon Sung-hyun before, so she knows him well and is confident in herself, so I think that’s why she played good defense,” he said, lavishing praise on Hee-won.
“One of our weaknesses is three-point shooting. We needed someone to hit one, and Hee-won solved that problem. She did a great job defending Jeon Sung-hyun, which made it easier for us to attack on the other end. It gave us a springboard to start playing from the beginning.” 토토사이트
This season, Hee-won has averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 25.23 minutes over the first six games. It’s only been six games, but he’s already posting his highest numbers in every category since his professional debut. If he continues this pace throughout the season, he could have a career-high season.
