A player from Barcelona’s rival Real Madrid showed his support for Gabi.
On April 21 (local time), Dani Carvajal, who plays for Real Madrid, posted a photo on social media of himself lifting Gabi to her feet, saying, “She’s a person before she’s a rival,” and “She’s going to be strong and she’s going to come back, so please give her a lot of encouragement.”
The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid is one that the world watches closely. Their head-to-head matches are known as “El Clasico”. It’s always a rough and tumble affair, but off the field, the teams have shown respect for each other.
Gabi was injured against Georgia in the 10th match of Group A of the UEFA Euro 2024 on June 20 at the Estadio Munisipal Jose Sorolla in Valladolid, Spain.
In the 19th minute of the first half, Gabi collided with an opponent while defending the ball after receiving a pass from Ferran Torres. Medical staff attended to him but deemed the injury not serious, so he remained on the pitch and continued playing.
About a minute later, he went down again, his knee twisting in the process of turning after catching an incoming ball with a chest trap. After complaining of great pain, Gabi eventually left the field.
After the match, the Spanish La Fuente coach said, “This is the most bitter and hardest victory I have ever experienced in my life. It’s a very difficult and painful time for a player. We are devastated,” he said.
His condition was not good. “Medical tests have revealed a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and a meniscus injury,” Barcelona announced on its official website on Tuesday.
That’s a lot of bad news. Gabi was only born in 2004. He’s still in his prime, and this could be a career-defining injury.
His team, Barcelona, is also in a state of emergency. Gabi is already an integral part of Barcelona’s core. He dominates the midfield with his football intelligence and skill. Since his call-up to the senior team in 2021, he has steadily improved. In the 2021/22 season, he scored two goals and provided six assists in 47 games, making him a breakout star.
His performances earned him his first call-up to the Spanish national team in 2021. In 2022, he won the Golden Boy award for the best prospect. This season, he continued to make his mark for his club, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 15 games. 무지개토토 주소
However, an unexpected injury set him back. Real Madrid defender Carvajal sent a message of support to his “rival” after learning of his injury. Even though they don’t see eye-to-eye on the pitch, he offered his support and showed his sportsmanship.
